Orihuela del Tremedal

Orihuela del Tremedal opens the basin of the Gallo towards Molina and the Tagus. Its peat bogs, woodlands and historical ironworks bring together water, resources and mountain heritage.

Rivers and basins

The thread of water from Orihuela del Tremedal

Follow these watercourses towards their confluences, villages, and basin history.

The Gallo as a guiding thread

Orihuela allows one to follow the Gallo river from the Sierra del Tremedal. Downstream, the river leads to Molina de Aragón and empties into the Tagus. The village thus provides an entry into the atlas from Teruel, along a clear hydrological connection.

Water held by the mountain

Regional studies describe mountain streams, peat bogs (tremedales), and accumulations of quartzite blocks around the Tremedal. Water can flow beneath these block streams: interpreting the headwaters requires observing what the ground retains and conceals.

Iron and labour

Iron ore extraction and historical forges contribute another layer of local history. The mountain can be understood through both its mineral resources and the labour that worked them. This thread continues in the materials of life and the headwaters of Albarracín.
