Romanesque of the Sexma del Campo
Rueda de la Sierra lies in the Campo de Molina district, north of the capital. Its parish church, dedicated to Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, represents a fine example of the rural Romanesque established during the Christian repopulation of the 12th and 13th centuries.
Architectural features
It has a rectangular ground plan with a single nave concluding in a flat-ended apse, characteristic of regional late Romanesque rather than semicircular designs. The walls are constructed of rubble masonry reinforced by ashlar corner quoins. The western facade is crowned by a bell-gable with two bell openings, while the sacristy is attached to the south flank of the apse.
