A museum created by the village
In 1996, the fiesta committee of El Pobo de Dueñas had an idea: to put on display at the fronton court the old utensils, clothing, and farm tools that villagers kept in their lofts. The display was so popular that the town hall renovated the former butcher’s shop and secured European development funds for a permanent museum, which opened on 10 August 2006 on the ground floor of the town hall.
What is displayed
About two hundred objects donated by around sixty individuals and families: ploughs, machinery, hand tools, weights and measures, clothing, kitchenware, and historic photographs, alongside fossils and plant specimens. Notable exhibits include a Roman-style scratch plough, a sharpening wheel, the church clockwork mechanism, the old butcher’s scales, and a winnowing machine.
Visiting
It is wise to ask at the town hall about current visiting times.
