A cave perched high above the canyon
The cave entrance opens directly onto the vertical limestone cliff of Hoz de Beteta, commanding views over one of the most scenic canyons in the Serranía de Cuenca. Inside, a karst conduit presents delicate speleothems and varied subterranean formations.
Why a guide is required
The mineral formations are fragile, and the cave serves as an important ecological roost for protected bats, notably horseshoe bats (Rhinolophus spp.). For this reason, access is strictly regulated and non-guided galleries remain sealed.
What to bring
Comfortable walking shoes and warm clothing: humidity is high and underground temperatures remain cool year-round. Located in Beteta.
