The route

Departs from Megina along the track towards the village hermitage and fountain, an excellent spot to fill water bottles. The track climbs between sheer rock cliffs to a junction marking the start of the loop: take the right branch. After crossing the Cabrillas River over a bridge and climbing a concreted slope, turn left, enter the pine woods, and a footpath leads back to the water’s edge.

The ford

Here you must ford the river. In summer it poses no difficulty; during high-water periods it can prove tricky. Afterward, path and track close the loop, returning to the village along the initial track.

Look up

The crags and rock pinnacles of the canyon host numerous birds of prey: bring binoculars.

Before you set out

Carry water, mountain footwear, and download the GPS track in advance: mobile reception is absent in many areas. Check the forecast on Today in the Alto Tajo and the official trail sheet for notices and closures, and respect seasonal restrictions during raptor breeding periods.
